Climbing track
"Alpspitz-Ferrata"
Starting at the mountain lodge of the Osterfelder cable car you
follow the track in direction to the northern path called
"Nordwandsteig", in south direction cross underneath
the "Höllentorkopf". The new
"Alpspitz-Ferrata" track turns right after about 100
m. In the lower part the new path passes along the old ascent to
the Alpspitze to the north wall. Already in the beginning you
will pass one of the most difficult parts - similar to the
climbs that follow - to make sure that everybody who passes this
part will be able to do the rest of the ascent aswell.
After this part the path leaves the old route and carries on in
direction west. You will have a fantastic view to the Zugspitze
and the Valley of the Höllental. From there on the track
will get steeper up to the north ridge and the Alpspitze. Along
the ridge and a natural mountain path on the west side of the
Alpspitze you will reach the peak through a steep natural
channel.
Starting at the mountain lodge of the Osterfelder cable car it
takes about 1,5 hours to get to the peak of the Alpspitze.
Climbing track through the northern face of the Alpspitze
Beginning at the mountain lodge of the Alpspitz cable car you
walk in the south direction underneath the "Höllentorkopf"
until the turn to the "Rinderscharte". A couple of
meters later you pass by a splitted rock, after this difficult
part the northern track is following along the rock with easier
ascent to the foot of the northern face.
The following part is through two rock tunnels. You will see
some fantastic views to the mountain area of the Osterfelder and
the Hausberg, the three peaks of the Dreitorspitze and the open
valley. Afterwards the track follows in direction to the north
face and you cross the whole lower part of it. At the end you
will pass a part secured through ropes and stirrups, then up to
the upper corrie, where you cross over a ladder to the original
path to the peak of the Alpspitze.
The advantage of those two tracks is that you can choose between
the two ways or do a round tour. The tracks are maintained in a
way that experienced climbers can easily do both of them. The
"Alpspitz-Ferrata" is more difficult than the path
through the north face.
To descent the Alpspitze we also recommend the way down along
the east part down to the upper corrie and along the north track
back down to the mountain lodge of the Osterfelder. It takes
about 1 hour to get back down to the cable car. |
