Austrian Tourism Trends
According to a recent story in the Austrian Times more Austrians than ever will be taking holidays at home this year. The report released by the Institute for Leisure Time and Tourism (ITF). The report states that a full 34% of Austrians are planning fewer and less expensive holidays at home this year. The report also staes that just 40% of Austrians are determined to take a vacation at all. This compares with 45% last year. The ITF boss, Peter Zellman reckons that the Austrian tourism sector will hold up fine as a result of the increase in Austrians vacationing at home. So far so good, but what about the numbers that will simply hop in thier cars and drive? These folks often find themselves in neighbouring countries such as Switzerland and Italy. In fact in past years Italy was the favorite country for Austrians traveling abroad to visit. At Activelifestyle.com we agree with this report. We have been big yea sayers to the theory that folks wil stick closer to home and go where the auto, train or bus takes them. We also do not think that tourism will melt away like the snows in spring.
